NON TURBETUR COR VESTRUM
Let not your hearts be troubled;
believe in God, believe also in me.
(Jn 14:1)

In the world you have tribulation;
    but be of good cheer,
    I have overcome the world."
["In mundo pressuram habetis,
    sed confidite,
    ego vici mundum
"]
(Jn 16:33)

THE PATIENCE OF FAITH
"We have to believe this forced wait
    is a very good thing,
    since our Lord has arranged things this way."
(Diary of the Crossing of the Pyrenees)

"He calls the shots!"

USE MY NAME, NOT YOURS
"Truly, truly, I say to you,
    he who believes in me will also do the works that I do;
    and greater works than these will he do,
    because I go to the Father.
Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it,
    that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
if you ask anything in my name, I will do it. "
(Jn 14:12-14)

MY FATHER WILL DO IT FOR ME, FOR MY SAKE
Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father,
    he will give it to you in my name.

Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name;
    ask,
    and you will receive,
    that your joy may be full." (Jn 16:23-24)

THE FAITH OF THE ANCESTORS
"To encourage Christians, the author of the Letter [to the Hebrews] offers the example of Old Testament believers,
summarizing the hagiography of the book of Sirach,
when he says that they all were moved toward the Invisible One
    because they were supported by faith.
There are seventeen examples cited in the Letter:
    'By faith Abel -
    by faith Noah -
    by faith Abraham -
    by faith Moses - '.
And we can add:
    by faith Mary -
    by faith Joseph -
    by faith Simeon and Anna -
    by faith the apostles, the martyrs, the confessors, the virgins;
    and the bishops, priests, religious
    and lay people of all the Christian centuries -
By faith the Church has journeyed through the centuries
    and journeys today toward the Invisible One,
    under the breath and guidance of the Holy Spirit."
(John Paul II, General Audience, 8 May 1991)

FAITH, NOT JUST COMMON SENSE
"When people go to the priest to seek his advice
    or confide to him their difficulties,
    they do not expect a common-sense answer,
    but a word of faith.
They are disappointed
    when they do not find in him an attitude of faith;
on the contrary, when they recognize in him a witness of faith,
    they are strengthened in their convictions."
(John Paul II, Angelus, 17 December 1990)

CALLED TO DO THE (HUMANLY) IMPOSSIBLE
"I could not wait till things seemed possible!"
(St Josemaria)

Teacher of trust,
Teacher of confidence,
